The history of the Siam Boxing Stadium / Omnoi Stadium, Bangkok

The Omnoi Stadium was launched in 1984 by a group of businessmen and was built in Samt Prakan. The aim was to create a place that will broadcast the weekly live fights. Due to the success of the live broadcasts, the old stadium became too small and constantly pushed to its capacity limits.

The relocation of the Siam Boxing Stadium

Therefore, it was decided to build a bigger stadium, which could compete with the big brothers Lumpinee and Rajadamnern. Because of the strong presence of the two main stadiums in the city center but it was decided to build it in the province outside of Bangkok in Samut Sakhon. The official name of the stadium is Siam Boxing Stadium. In general, it is only called Omnoi stage.

Special features of the Omnoi stage

The Omnoi Stadium was the first in which a woman commented on a Muay Thai fight.

Until 1993, Channel 9 broadcasted the fights live from the stadium. From 1993 to today this is done by Channel 3.

Events in Omnoi Stadium

The most famous event in Omnoi stage is the Isuzu tournament. Almost every great champion of the country has fought at least once in Omnoi stage for this trophy.

Not infrequently there are in the Siam Boxing Stadium battles between foreigners. This can be admired rather rare in the larger stadiums in Bangkok.

The great atmosphere in the Siam Boxing Stadium can compete with the atmosphere in the larger stadiums in Bangkok definitely. This is last in mind that very many locals come here to see the fights and bet.
